Levabo Aps is a Danish family-run company with headquarters in Skanderborg in East Jutland. We are a global company that has distributors, and supplies products, all over the world.

For more than 10 years, we have worked closely with the users of our products and healthcare professionals. We have developed positioning products for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in collaboration with a number of Danish wound nurses.

At Levabo, we want to make a difference in healthcare and our vision is that our products can help eradicate pressure ulcers and improve the quality of life and well-being of the population.

Pressure ulcers are still common, and it is estimated that about 12% of Danes over 65 have a pressure ulcer. The trend towards more multisick and elderly people is likely to lead to an increase in pressure ulcers if no preventive measures are taken. Our pressure relieving products are part of the solution when it comes to preventing pressure ulcers.

We want to create innovative welfare technologies that make a difference in practice and collaborate across regional borders and sectors, public institutions, knowledge institutions and private companies.

Collaboration with practice is at the heart of our business, and we believe it is essential that the innovative solutions we develop are also intuitive and user-friendly.

The following SDGs are part of our progress towards
to take greater social responsibility,
more social responsibility

SDG 3: Health and well-being

Target 3.4: By 2030, reduce by one third, through prevention and treatment, premature mortality from non-communicable diseases.

Levabo contributes to the achievement of this SDG by creating welfare technology solutions that prevent and treat pressure ulcers.

SDG 8: Decent jobs and economic growth

Target 8.2: Achieve higher economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including by focusing on high value-added and labour-intensive sectors.

Levabo contributes to the achievement of this SDG by creating innovative welfare technology solutions.

Target 8.5: By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including young people and people with disabilities, with equal pay for work of equal value.

Levabo contributes to the achievement of this SDG by creating a responsible workplace for our employees. We focus on making our company inclusive and motivating, and want to build a diverse company with room for everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and physical and mental disabilities/disorders.

SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Target 9.2: Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and increase significantly the share of industry in employment and gross domestic product by 2030, in line with national circumstances.

Levabo contributes to the achievement of this SDG by creating jobs in manufacturing, both nationally and globally.

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

Target 12.6: Enterprises, especially large and transnational ones, are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.

Levabo will continuously work to create a reporting cycle where sustainability is a fixed focus point.

Levabo is continuously working on improving products and packaging to move in a more sustainable direction.

All Levabo products are delivered in cardboard boxes or cartons that can be sorted as cardboard waste and recycled.

Levabo’s cushions are primarily made of PE (polyethylene). This is considered one of the most environmentally friendly types of plastic because it turns into CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2O (water) when it burns. It can thus be incinerated without landfilling. Furthermore, PE is free of PVC and phthalates to protect the user from unwanted chemicals and to provide the least possible environmental impact.

The cushions non-woven felt outer cover consists of viscose fibres that are widely used in the healthcare sector for plasters, dressings and wound care products. Viscose is made from natural material and is therefore 100% biodegradable.

Target 12.7: Promote sustainable public procurement practices in line with national policies and priorities.

For Levabo, sustainable public procurement is about making the best use of scarce healthcare resources. Therefore, we also work on the basis of fair pricing of our products, so that as many as possible can benefit from its effects. This also contributes to achieving SDG 3: Health and well-being.
