Compression therapy
Compression Care is Levabo’s range of products for intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) of the calf, lower leg, leg, foot and arm.
IPC is an established treatment method for venous and lymphatic conditions. IPC can be used to advantage in the treatment of ischaemic legs where cardiosurgical options have been exhausted, with the aim of pain relief and reduction of amputation rates.
IPC improves both venous and arterial circulation. This has a positive effect on wound healing, drains fluid accumulation and provides effective muscle relaxation for faster recovery after physical exercise.
If compression treatment of the lower extremities is needed, for example, the Compression Care Boot 4-Cell compression boot is used, where the boot encloses the foot and lower leg and the accompanying pump blows air into the boot’s chambers. The compressions are repeated in a cycle from the bottom up through the different chambers of the boot. This pushes excess fluid proximally towards the heart, increasing venous return and reducing peripheral resistance. This reduces oedema, capillary exchange increases and arterial blood supply increases.
Compression Care is inflatable and is made of medical TPU which is a skin-friendly material that is moisture-absorbing, heat-transporting and comfortable. If extra comfort is required, a tubular bandage or similar can be used under the compression cuff.

The Compression Care cuffs are a disposable product, but can be used for the same user over a longer period of time. Both cuffs and pump can be wiped with a damp cloth, with alcohol or chlorhexidine. Both ensures high hygiene.
The Compresion Care cuffs are not inflated on delivery and therefore take up very little space. This makes it both portable and easy to handle, making the treatment method optimal for home use as well as in combination with follow-up via a telemedicine course or wound centres.
Supplied in clean, sealed packaging including pump.

Who benefits from Compression Care compression therapy
People who have arterial or venous leg ulcers
- Persons with ischaemic rest pain in the lower extremities (critical limb ischaemia (CLI)) and no possibility of vascular reconstruction
- People with lymphoedema (chronic swelling/fluid accumulation with protein deposition) following lymph node removal or radiotherapy
- People with lipedema (excessive and painful accumulation of fat cells)
- People with oedema (temporary or chronic swelling/fluid retention) where the oedema cannot be otherwise decompressed and kept at an acceptable level
- People with varicose veins in the lower extremities (varicose veins), arteriosclerosis (atherosclerosis) and/or claudiocatio intermittens (window peeping syndrome, pain in the legs due to atherosclerosis)
- People at risk of deep vein thrombosis (leg clots) or people who have post-thrombotic syndrome (secondary condition to previous deep vein thrombosis characterised by chronic oedema, hyperpigmentation, stasis eczema, secondary varicose veins and/or chronic venous leg ulcers)
- People at risk of swelling after surgery, for example in the hand or knee
- People who experience muscle pain associated with diabetic neuropathy
- People who want fast recovery after physical training
