BREAKING NEWS: German Clinical Evaluation Shows Positive Results with Levabo’s Turn All

After two years of clinical use, the German specialist care centre ZBI Berlin has published positive assessments of Levabo’s automatic turning system, Turn All. The findings highlight benefits in pressure ulcer management, patient comfort, and reduced workload for healthcare professionals, supported by 19 documented patient cases.

The Zentrum für Beatmung und Intensivpflege (ZBI) in Berlin has been using Turn All as part of its daily care of patients with complex medical and nursing needs.

In October 2026, two clinical specialists from ZBI published their professional assessments following two years of practical experience with the system. Their findings provide valuable insight into how automated repositioning can support modern healthcare.

19 Documented Patient Cases Demonstrate Positive Wound Healing Outcomes

As part of its clinical documentation, ZBI has compiled 19 patient cases illustrating the progression of pressure ulcers in patients receiving care with Turn All.

The presentation includes photographic evidence and descriptions of wound healing. In several cases, Category 2 pressure ulcers were reported to have healed within just one week, while more complex wounds required longer treatment periods.

ZBI also reports that patients continued using Turn All following wound healing, with no recurrence of pressure ulcers observed during the documented follow-up periods.

These clinical cases provide valuable insight into the use of Turn All as part of comprehensive wound care and pressure ulcer management.

Positive Assessment After Two Years of Clinical Use

Sebastian Kruschwitz, Head of Wound Management at ZBI Berlin, describes Turn All as a valuable addition to the centre’s existing care practices.

The system supports regular repositioning and helps reduce prolonged pressure on vulnerable areas of the body.

In his professional assessment, Kruschwitz states:

“After two years of practical evaluation, we consider the Turn All system a valuable enhancement to our wound management.”

Another important benefit highlighted by ZBI is the ability to reduce repetitive manual repositioning, helping to ease the physical demands placed on healthcare professionals.

Improved Night-Time Rest and Reduced Workload

The clinical experiences extend beyond wound management.

Florian Seybecke, Head of Neurological Long-Term Rehabilitation at ZBI, reports positive experiences with Turn All among selected patients with severe neurological conditions.

By supporting scheduled repositioning throughout the night, Turn All helped reduce the need for manual interventions in suitable patients.

According to ZBI’s observations, this contributed to fewer night-time disturbances and longer periods of uninterrupted rest.

The reduced need for manual repositioning also gives healthcare professionals greater flexibility to focus on other essential care activities, including patient monitoring and individual care needs.

Significant Potential for Time and Cost Savings

Beyond clinical benefits, automated repositioning also offers an opportunity to optimise healthcare resources.

Manual repositioning can be time-consuming, particularly for patients requiring frequent pressure relief. According to Levabo’s resource analysis, a single manual repositioning typically takes approximately 10 minutes and requires two healthcare professionals.

For a patient requiring repositioning every two hours, this can represent four combined staff-hours per day.

Based on the historical hourly staffing cost of DKK 266.64 used in Levabo’s resource calculation, this corresponds to approximately:

  • DKK 1067 per day in staff time devoted to manual repositioning.
  • DKK 389000 per year in equivalent staff-time costs for one patient.

These figures are illustrative calculations, not measured savings from the ZBI evaluation. Actual savings depend on the patient’s care requirements, staffing arrangements, and how Turn All is implemented. Professional monitoring and individual care remain essential.

Nevertheless, automated repositioning offers the potential to free up valuable staff time, reduce physically demanding work, and support more efficient allocation of healthcare resources.

Supporting the Future of Patient Care

The positive clinical experiences from ZBI Berlin demonstrate the potential of Turn All as a valuable tool in modern healthcare.

By combining automated repositioning with individualised care, the system can support pressure ulcer management, improve patient comfort, and help healthcare professionals make better use of their time.

For Levabo, the two-year clinical evaluation and extensive patient documentation provide important real-world evidence of how Turn All can contribute to everyday patient care.
